Jon's Birthday

Yesterday, Bert met me after church and we went to Mebane to meet Jon and Lila. We had a few minutes to kill, so we wandered through the baby shops at Tanger Outlets. There are so many cool, stylish boy clothes available now. When my boys were little, they dressed exclusively in stripey shirts. There wasn't much else to dress them in. I picked up a couple of matching outfits (tshirts and fleece shorts) for the photo op. After forcing the boys to pose for pictures we went to Chapel Hill and ate at Lucha Tigre. Interesting, eclectic menu--Asian/Mexican fusion. The boys are wonderfully well-behaved in a restaurant, although you have to keep things away from them because they are very grabby. They got into a brief hollering match which I thought was funny. Not screaming or fussy, just making noises. They are such a joy to me.

Taking a break

Miguel and I went to visit Bert and the boy yesterday. We were on babysitting duty while Bert cleaned the house. Calvin comes home Thursday so she wanted to tidy up. Unfortunately it was a rainy day so we couldn't go out. But we had a good time indoors crawling around pulling things off shelves and creeping along the furniture. James has weaned himself. He just decided he was ready for a bottle and that was the end of that. We had a quick dinner at Mellow Mushroom. My "last supper" before I start my new vegan diet. I feel the need for a cleanse. So, for the next little while--no meat, no dairy, no caffeine. We'll see how it goes...

Clearing the land

We had some trees taken down around the house since many were in danger of crashing through the roof. The tree cutters worked for 2 days this week and cut down a dozen or so big trees. The dogs were most displeased with all the noise and activity. Now that some sunlight can get to the ground we may actually be able to plant something....or not. The only thing I can successfully grow are cats and dogs. Never had much luck with plants. Sgt. Calvin comes home next week for some R&R. The college school year is rapidly drawing to a close so Mal and Lila will be wrapping up the semester. Jon is working hard at Table in Mebane and seems to be doing well. So GLAD to see Spring, but I can do without the pollen.

Cute Baby

James T. at 9 months
My grandsons! They just keep getting cuter and more amazing by the minute. I could just eat them up!! James Two is 9 months old already. I don't think he is loving his new hiking boots. Maybe once he actually starts walking he will see their true value, but for now I think he prefers bare feet.

Easter!

Jaymart eating his bunny rabbit
Last weekend was very busy. I managed to see all my children and grandchildren within 2 days. I took the boys their Easter baskets. I haven't put together an Easter basket in many years! It was fun. I picked up the bunnies and baskets last year at an after season sale. Then I went to Trader Joe's and shopped for interesting chocolates. The candy is for the parents...neither of the James' is eating candy yet. As you can see, the bunny is quite tasty enough.

Mal

Last Friday night me and Miguel trekked up to G'boro to see Mr. Mal. We ate at our favorite Vietnamese joint, Pho, then did some snack shopping at Walgreens. I usually get one of two dishes at Pho....either the street noodles or the vegetable with crispy noodles. Both are excellent. I have gotten to where I prefer Vietnamese, Thai or Indian food to Chinese, Mexican or American. I like complex spices. I also like an interesting tofu dish since I try to avoid meat as much as possible. I feel I'm being hypocritical by loving animals, yet tolerating so much pain and cruelty. But, everyone is free to make up their own mind.

More dog pictures. I love my animals. I love my kids. I love my grandkids. And I'm assuming they love me. And I'll keep assuming that until they tell my otherwise.
