Drivin' the big rigs

James and Marcus in the steam roller
We took the boys to the "Touch A Truck" event at the Friday Center in Chapel Hill. This was a wonderful afternoon's entertainment sponsored by a local boy scout troop. There were all kinds of vehicles that the kids could climb into. James is obsessed with fire trucks and there were 3 or 4 varieties there. There were lots of rescue vehicles and police cars, tow trucks, dump trucks, city and school buses, a helicopter, garbage trucks, a bunch of construction equipment--steam roller, excavator, cement truck, bulldozer, semi tractor trailers, and a police motorcycle (which kind of scared the boys). It was rather menacing looking up close. Jon and Lila's boys went earlier in the day, so we missed them. I'm sure the other set of grandboys were equally impressed. Little boys sure do love big trucks. The weather couldn't have been better. We stopped at Weaver Street for a quick bite on the way home. Truly a lovely day...although my back is absolutely killing me right now. Time to dose up with the tylenol and go lay down for awhile. Ugh...gotta work tomorrow.

the other kids

Sophie and Early on the back deck
Finally, some sunshine! The dogs are enjoying a break in the late winter weather. It's still a little cold for me, but at least it stopped raining. Everyone north of us got snow this weekend. That makes 3 snow storms this month! This is some kind of crazy weather. Hopefully spring really is on the way.

All My Grandsons

Family Reunion Time

My brother was passing through town today, so I was able to pull together all the kids and grandkids for lunch at Babalu in Chapel Hill. It has become one of my favorite eating places. We had a wonderful time and the food was great. Best of all, PHOTO OP!

What?! Snow again!

Yesterday in Winston-Salem
It started raining Sunday and then yesterday the rain turned into snow. We got a little more than a dusting. My friends in Winston got several inches. This is not unheard of, but kind of unusual for this time of year. Hopefully it's the last blast of freezing weather we'll have for this season.

Cat Angels

My coworker volunteers at Cat Angels shelter and fosters several cats. She has been trying to trap a feral cat for a couple days with mixed success.

This is who she was trying to catch.
This is who she ended up with.
